Codestack ("we", "us") operates the Phone Cleaner mobile application (the "App"). Phone Cleaner finds files you can remove to free up space and helps you manage apps and your network. This page explains what the App does with data and the choices you have.
In short: Phone Cleaner has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your photos, videos, files and app information are read and processed on your phone and are never uploaded to us. The App shows ads through Google AdMob, which collects some device data (see section 3), and uses Google Firebase for usage statistics and crash reports (see section 6).
1. Data that stays on your phone
To do its job, the App reads the following on your device. None of it is sent to us or to any server we run.
- Photos and videos (permission: photos and videos). Used to find duplicates, similar photos, screenshots, large files and to compress photos and videos. On Android 14 and newer you can share only selected photos; the App then works on those items only.
- App usage and storage (special access: usage access, which you turn on in Android Settings). Used to show recent activity, rarely used apps and how much space each app takes.
- Nearby Wi-Fi networks and network state. Used to show the security type of the network you are on. This is shown only on your screen.
- Notifications (permission: notifications). Used for compression progress and optional reminders. Reminders are created on your phone.
- Home screen (if you choose the Phone Cleaner launcher). The App stores your home-screen layout, shortcuts and widgets on your phone.
You can withdraw any permission at any time in Android Settings. The tools that need it will stop working but the rest of the App keeps working.
2. Files you delete or compress
Deleting and compressing happens only after you confirm, and only on your device. Compression keeps your original files unless you choose to replace them. The sizes shown in the App are measured from your files, not estimated from other data.
3. Ads (Google AdMob)
The App is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and use your advertising ID, IP address, device and app information and ad interaction data. We do not receive your photos, files or the contents of your phone through ads.
- Consent. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), the App shows Google's consent form (UMP) before any ad is loaded. You can accept or decline personalized ads, and you can change your choice later in Settings → Ad privacy options when it is shown.
- Advertising ID. You can reset it or opt out of ad personalization in your Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- Google's information on how it uses data: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
4. Install source
When the App first starts, it asks Google Play where the install came from (the Play Install Referrer). The App uses this only to tell whether the install came from an advertisement, and the result is stored on your phone. The referrer text is not sent to us.
5. Speed test
When you run the speed test, the App downloads and uploads test data to Cloudflare's speed test servers (speed.cloudflare.com). Cloudflare receives your IP address as part of that connection. We do not store the results on a server.
6. Usage statistics, crash reports and settings (Google Firebase)
The App uses Google Firebase, run by Google as our service provider:
- Firebase Analytics records how the App is used: screens opened, tools used (for example "Similar photos" or "Speed test"), permission choices, app version and basic device information such as model, Android version, language and approximate country. It uses an app-instance identifier and, where available, your advertising ID. It never receives your photos, videos, file names or file contents.
- Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report when the App crashes: the error, the device model and Android version, and the state of the App at the time. It helps us fix bugs.
- Firebase Remote Config downloads settings that let us switch features on or off and tune the App without an update. It uses an app-instance identifier.
We use this data only to understand and improve the App. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to identify you. Google's information on how Firebase handles data: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
7. Data we collect ourselves
We do not have user accounts, do not run our own servers and do not sell or share your data. Apart from the Google services described in sections 3 and 6, the App does not send data to us.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided data, contact support@appmetrics.studio.
9. Your choices and rights
- Turn off permissions in Android Settings → Apps → Phone Cleaner.
- Reset your advertising ID or turn off ad personalization in Android settings.
- Change your ad consent in Settings → Ad privacy options when it is shown.
- Uninstalling the App removes everything it stored on your phone.
- For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@appmetrics.studio.
